To ensure patients are given the appropriate amount of time with doctors, we generally avoid fit-ins but will endeavour to arrange a same-day appointment within our group of local clinics wherever possible.

Yes, in most circumstances, you will need to see a doctor to have a script written. Doctors have a duty of care and need to determine if you should be prescribed a medication based on various factors, or if you should continue or cease taking a medication they may have prescribed for you previously.

At Strathalbyn Family Medical Centre, we use a secure automated SMS system to communicate with patients about results. Depending on the test that has been undertaken, a consultation may be required to receive results. It is the patient’s responsibility to follow up on their test results, and we actively encourage patients to be proactive in their healthcare and book an appointment for results before leaving the clinic.

Unless encryption is used, email is not a secure platform for communicating sensitive information such as test results. Also, to protect your privacy, you should never email personal information such as your birth date, address, Medicare card number, etc. to our clinic.

Regardless of the nature of your visit, you need to book an appointment with a doctor to ensure that you receive the correct level of care.
